 The text of the Resolution: 30th Anniversary Celebrations: As the residents and staff eagerly anticipate the 30th anniversary of St. Mary’s Court, the city of Washington has also chosen to recognize this momentous occasion. On Tuesday, March 4, the Council of the District of Columbia honored St. Mary’s Court with an official Resolution. Awarded by Councilmember Jack Evans, the document hailed St. Mary’s Court “as a haven for its residents and a gathering place and community asset of the Foggy Bottom/West End neighborhood and of the capitol city of this nation,” and officially declared March 23, 2009 to be “St. Mary’s Court Day” in the District. Two members of the St. Mary’s Court staff and three residents accepted the Resolution. Billy Wright, a resident of St. Mary’s Court for seven years and the current President of the Residents Association, accepted the Resolution and thanked the Council for recognizing the three decades of service that St. Mary’s Court has provided. On Wednesday, March 25, St. Mary’s Court will hold a VIP Reception to celebrate you, our friends and neighbors, for three decades of support. Come enjoy an evening of live music, cocktails and hors d’ouevres at St. Mart’s Court, 725 24th St, NW, from 6:30-8:30pm. Although the staff and community surrounding St. Mary’s Court represent tremendous support and encouragement, the most important people affiliated with our building are undoubtedly our residents. Their histories and personalities transformed St. Mary’s Court from a nine story housing structure to a robust and dynamic space for active citizens. This summer, St. Mary’s Court will hold a dinner/dance for the residents as a gesture of gratitude to these incredible men and women.
